As you can see from the photos below the decorations provide a lovely setting for the special services that are held at this time of year.  We have already had the Lights Switch on Service, the Candle Service and Carols by Candlelight.

Still to come are the Christingle Services and Communion Service on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day Communion and the joint service of Communion with Carols on December 28th.

Do please join us for one of these services or pop in to see the decorations any day during daylight hours.

​There was a convivial and festive atmosphere in the Church Hall this afternoon when the Christmas season began with the annual Christmas Fayre.  It was lovely to see so many people enjoying browsing the various stalls and enjoying tea, coffee and delicious cakes. 

For the children the fun continued in the church where there were craft activities on offer, story time and a special visitor, none other than Father Christmas!

​An All Age Family Harvest Festival with Communion was held in Hope Church this morning.  It was lovely to have so many of all ages filling  the pews.  The service included the opportunity to donate food items which will be given to Flintshire Food Bank.

As usual the church was wonderfully decorated for the occasion as you can see in the following photos.  Thank you to all those who made the church look so beautiful.
The service was followed by a delicious hotpot lunch and apple pie dessert in the Church Hall.
Our thanks to Kathleen, Blodwen and Gloria (seen in the photo below) and to everyone else who worked so hard to prepare, serve and wash up afterwards.  Your efforts were greatly appreciated.

A special service for the licensing of the Reverend Simon Piercy was held at Hope Church on Tuesday 2nd September.  Simon is our newly appointed Rector who will serve the churches of St Cynfarch and St Cyngar, Hope, St John’s, Penymynydd and Emmanuel, Penyffordd.

The licensing was led by the Right Reverend Gregory Cameron, Lord Bishop of St Asaph, assisted by the Archdeacon and Mission Area Leader.  Also taking part were the church wardens and others from the local community who offered their words of welcome.  St John’s Community Choir, conducted by Simon himself, sang Benedictus and the Lord’s Prayer.
​The church was full for this wonderful and uplifting service.  It was followed by refreshments in the hall at which Simon received many more congratulations.  We are all looking forward to Simon’s new ministry with us here in Hope.

]]><![CDATA[North Wales Blood Bikes at Pop In]]>Thu, 03 Jul 2025 15:53:21 GMThttp://www.hopeparishchurch.org/news/north-wales-blood-bikes-at-pop-inWe were pleased to welcome members of North Wales Blood Bikes at Pop In today.  They expressed how grateful they were for Pop In’s recent donation of £150 towards their work and explained to everyone what this work involves.

Volunteers transport free of charge materials such as blood, breast milk, tissue and medication between hospitals throughout North Wales and beyond.  Each bike costs about £20,000 and covers around 48,000 miles per year.

These photos show some of the Blood Bike riders with Joyce and David as they try out the ‘mini’ bike and the full-size one.

Thank you to everyone who came along to this summer's fete.  It was lovely to see people browsing all the stalls and enjoying the refreshments.

​And our thanks as usual to those who organised the event and to all who helped on the day.  A pleasing sum of £626 was raised for church funds.

The monthly 'Soup'n'Pud was served as usual at Pop In in the Church Hall today  but with the added extra of some birthday cake!

Pat Grimshaw-Smith has been a very active member of Hope Church for many years and is always at hand helping with Thursday's weekly Pop In.  As she celebrates her 90th birthday this weekend the opportunity was taken to celebrate at Pop In too, much to Pat's surprise.  There was a rousing rendition of 'Happy Birthday' and a cake to cut and share.
