Services

Along with our Sunday services, we also have midweek services at Hope Church:

Morning Prayer - Mondays at 9:15am
Afternoon Prayer - Thursdays at 3:15pm
At these services we meet to pray together a short 'office' and give considerable time to pray for the life and ministry of our churches too.  If you have a particular prayer request please do get in touch.

Midweek Holy Communion
Every 2nd Thursday of the month at 1:30pm in Hope Church (Afternoon Prayer does not meet on this Thursday)

Sunday Services

All Age Service
It is a non-communion service which picks up a theme from either one of the day’s set readings or from matters of particular interest. It aims to be of interest to members of the congregation of all ages and involvement by children and adults alike is welcomed. The service lasts approximately 45 minutes and is followed by drinks and biscuits.

Holy Communion
Our main service is that of Holy Eucharist, where we remember Jesus sharing a meal with his followers shortly before his death and asking them to on doing this in remembrance of him. The heart of the service is the sharing of bread in the form of sanctified wafers, and of wine, representing the sacrifice Jesus made of his body and blood.
Members of all denominations who normally take communion in their own churches are welcome to join us in taking communion.

Morning Worship
A non-communion service of Morning Worship is held each month at both Hope and Emmanuel. It consists of prayers, hymns, Bible readings and a talk. Most of the time this is within a modern setting but once a quarter at Hope we have a service of Matins, when we use the old prayers and sing some of the old canticles, or church hymns.

Evening Prayer
A non-communion service of Evening Prayer. It consists of prayers, hymns, Bible readings and a talk.

What is Communion?

Communion is important because it’s a command to remember. Jesus wants us to remember every time we taste bread and wine, and even when we sit at the tables in our own homes, that He is the one who provides all we need. He gives us the physical food that we need to survive and the spiritual nourishment we need to keep taking next steps with Him.
