Do I qualify to be married in Hope or Emmanuel Churches?
Today it is easier to be married in church than ever before.
If the bride and groom are both British, single, aged 18+ and resident in the Rhos-a-Mynydd Mission Area* then provided we have your choice of wedding date available, your marriage application can even be accepted immediately.
If you have been married before (more information below) then you may still qualify to be married in church; as too can non-British/EU nationals. You should contact the Rector directly to discuss your individual circumstances.
* The Rhos-a-Mynydd Mission Area comprises the former parishes of Hope, Llanfynydd, Buckley and Bistre.

Qualifying Connections
In 2010, UK law introduced the ‘qualifying connections’ rule to churches meaning that you may now be married in one of our churches not only if you live in the ‘parish’ but if one of you satisfies one of the following requirements:
- You live in the ‘Rhos-a-Mynydd Mission Area’ (see * above)
- You have lived in Rhos-a-Mynydd Mission Area for more than six months
- Your parents have lived in the Mission Area for more than six months
- You were Baptised (Christened) or Confirmed in the Mission Area
- You were confirmed outside of the Mission Area but were prepared for Confirmation by a church within the Mission Area
- Your parents or grandparents were married in the Mission Area
- You attend church regularly for 6 months
Getting married in church after divorce
Re-marriages in church are possible depending on your circumstances. The Rector may need to talk to couples about this. Please bear in mind clergy are expected to follow The Church In Wales and St Asaph Diocese guidelines and if necessary consult with the Bishop when making his decision. Your minister will also need to see your decree absolute.

In the presence of God, and before this congregation,
N and N have given their consent and made their
marriage vows to one another.
They have declared their marriage by the joining of hands
and by the giving and receiving of rings.
I proclaim that they are therefore husband and wife.
Those whom God has joined together
let no one put asunder.
